Connecting Event Themes & Gifting Experiences
Gift selection is one of the most important details of event planning because it is the only detail of the event that attendees take home with them. Everyone likes free stuff, but as an event planner you never want to offer a gift that ends up in a drawer or in the back of a closet. It’s key to create a gift experience that is not only unified with the event theme, but contains choices that guests will use continuously, long after the event is over.
This was the challenge that our team faced when planning the gift experience for the “Life’s a Beach” themed employee appreciation weekend for an esteemed insurance company. Our team considered two important factors to make sure the gift experience was a success.
Brands that Flow
When choosing which items to offer, we considered lifestyle brands that spoke to a fun in the sun, beach theme. Our team created a Southern Tide experience that offered various styles of t-shirts, pullovers, and sandals for guests to choose from. The items were selected as options that can be worn for any occasion (not just at the beach) and can become a staple of each attendee’s wardrobe. Travel drinkware is a top trending product, so we also paired the apparel selection with a co-branded YETI 20 oz Rambler. Since this event took place on a hot weekend, guests immediately began using their ramblers to keep their drinks cold while walking around the resort.
Details Make a Difference
Appearance is everything, so when planning the gift experience at your event it is essential to consider details such as layout and décor. Having an efficient layout that contains eye-catching displays is key to draw in crowds and create an authentic retail experience. To ensure this at our event, our team brought pop-up signage and gift bags to create an authentic retail pop-up shop. As an added detail to tie in with the theme, Southern Tide branded stickers, koozies, and sunglass straps were also laid out in the shopping area for guests to add to their gift bag.
